Biography

She was born in Artvin Ardanuç in 1971. She graduated from Ege University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Journalism in 1995. She completed her master's degree in Dokuz Eylül University, Fine Arts Institute, Photography Department, She completed her thesis in 2004 with her thesis titled “Construction of Meaning in Early 20th.Century American Straight Photography”. She completed her doctorate in the Cinema and Television Department of the same institute in 2011 with her thesis titled “Photographic Representation and Aestheticization of War in Contemporary Photography”.

Her published articles on photography include: Great (!) America in Stieglitz's Photographs, Aestheticization of Reality in the Photographic Record of War, Photo-Noir Revealed in Weegee's Photographs, Man's Black Spot of War, Stanley Greene's Traces in War Photographs, Significant Absence / Significant Absence, Photographic Image of the Contemporary Megacity and Its Periphery, Use of Stock-Image in Contemporary Photography, and Street Photography as a Visual Aesthetic Document of Social Change.

The papers she presented at scientific meetings are as follows: New Wars and Contemporary War Photography Aesthetics, New Wars and New War Photography, From Reality to Fiction, From Fiction to Market: The Productions of Contemporary Photographers in the Field of Visual Communication Design and Inheritance from the Bauhaus School to Contemporary Photography: A New Vision.

She works in the street, documentary, portrait and still life fields of photography. She participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad, as well as solo photography exhibitions called Today (2008), Dead-Nature (2014), Real (2015), Refugees (2015), Street Between (2018) and Inside Out Street (2020). . Since 2012, she has been working as a faculty member at Sakarya University, Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, Visual Communication Design Department.
