Biography
He was born in 1960 in Istanbul.
He trained himself in the field of photography.
He completed his undergraduate degree in Boğaziçi University, Department of Psychology, and his master's degree in Visual Communication Design at Istanbul Bilgi University.
He lives and works in Istanbul.
His first solo exhibition, Familiar Things (Tanıdık Şeyler )(1988), drew attention with his alternative approach to photography. Since then, he has carried out many personal projects and participated in many joint projects with artists from different disciplines.
In addition to his art work, he earns his living by working as a consultant, editor, photography instructor and translator in the field of promotional photography, editorial photography, photographic techniques/technology.
He has lectured at different universities and private educational institutions since the late 1980s. He is still in the faculty of Bahçeşehir University and Galatasaray University and is a member of the board of trustees of ASKEV (Ayvalık Art Culture and Education Foundation).
Orhan Cem Çetin is known for his conceptual, interdisciplinary and courageous attitude in his exhibitions, shows and performances.
His essays and texts on photography culture appear in various print and online magazines.
