Biography

Journalist, writer, producer and director Nebil Özgentürk was born in Adana. He graduated from Ege University Faculty of Business Administration.  Özgentürk, who started journalism as a reporter in the İzmir office of Günaydın Newspaper, continued his career in Sabah Newspaper in Istanbul. During his journalism work, he traveled throughout Anatolia, observed and wrote interviews with many political leaders and political events. He worked as a war correspondent in Romania, Abkhazia and during the Gulf War. We first heard of him as a journalist. He started writing a column in Sabah Newspaper in 1990, and his interviews made a splash. He was writing interesting portraits and interviews on the page reserved for him in Sabah Newspaper. Over the years, his columns were compiled into books called Bir Sip of Human, Unutulmayanlar, Years and Faces. The Bir Sip of Human documentaries, which started on ATV in 1998 and continued on CNN Türk, left their mark on an era. From Çetin Altan to Türkan Şoray, from Lefter to Cem Yılmaz, names that left their mark on Turkey's recent history attracted millions of people in front of the screen with their life stories and memories.  Then, he signed the 1000-minute documentaries Turkey's Diary Book and Our Art's Diary Book as producer, director and copywriter. He made a program called Minutes from Life, which continued on the screens for 8 years, breaking a record in the field of culture and arts and bringing many awards. He prepared and directed the cultural and arts programs named World is a Play Stage presented by Kenan Işık and Güzel Şeyler presented by Ferhat Göçer. He prepared the documentary Testimonies from the Intellectual History of Istanbul.  He made the documentary Centennial Faces, which includes the testimonies of people over 100 years old and their secrets of long life. He produced and directed the documentary Biz-Kültür Yolcuları, which sheds light on cultures that are about to disappear and Turkey's different beliefs and identities. He prepared the documentary Horse Love from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic. He prepared the documentary Diary Book of Our Woman and Diary Book of Migration to Germany, in which he describes the 57 years of immigration to Germany with striking stories and anecdotes. Nebil Özgentürk, who has written more than 20 books as an author, is also the owner of hundreds of awards in the fields of journalism, television, culture and arts.
